He founded the Aldermaston Pottery in 1955 and became a highly regarded and influential ceramicist. His expertise in lustreware and tin glazes plays an important role in the history of British ceramics. He travelled widely and was especially influenced by historical Islamic ceramics. This piece has a lovely combination of pinks and browns with a lustreware finish. The round shape is really pleasing and the angular handle works perfectly in the overall effect. It is signed on the bottom and in good condition.
