Carved Rope Twist Guilded Mirror
A fabulous early C20th French overmantle mirror. The wooden frame has been carved to look like five layers of rope. A beautiful effect, especially with the gilt finish. The back has been replaced in the near past, which might mean that the mirror glass was replaced too. The frame is a rare design, and still in good condition with some signs of age, and a little shallow split at the top (see photo). Nothing unexpected considering it's age. We think the simple, not too ornate design lends itself really well to both a minimalist or maximalist c21st interior.
