One of two Jetson chairs we have by the renowned and highly celebrated Swedish designer and architect Bruno Mathsson. This is a stunning 1960’s design which reflects the interests and challenges that inspired Mathsson. He was fascinated with the mechanics of sitting and combining high technical quality with function. He was a real pioneer always looking to develop ground breaking ideas. This Jetson chair design deliberately minimises the use of padding, instead letting the form provide the comfort. The shape and use of material is fabulous, from the slim leather edging to the slim steel frame. It is a swivel chair that turns back to it’s original position and very stable and supportive. The leather edging is combined with a canvas seat and a wool lining. It does show it’s age with a few marks on the canvas, light marks on the frame and some patina on the leather. The foam inside the wool lining on the seat has lost it’s integrity so it has formed some dust inside the lining which comes out if you shake it. It has been well used but this is an iconic beautiful piece and well worth having in your life.
