The 699 Superleggera Chair by Gio Ponti for Cassina

£0.00
Sold

A Mid-Century creation by the masterful architect and designer Gio Ponti. The chair was designed in 1957, and is now hailed as an icon of post-war Italian design. The makers at Casssina, with whom Ponti collaborated, were able to skillfully produce his vision of a super light weight, yet super strong chair. The seat is cane and the frame is Ash with a triangular cross section for the uprights and tapering legs. There is no denying the elegance and appeal of this beautiful design, examples of which are held in museum collections including the V&A. This one is in a good stable and strong condition. The paint has been refreshed recently and shows minimal signs of wear. The cane has 2 tiny gaps on close inspection. Circa 1970s/80s.

As this is a larger item, it can be picked up from the HoMV studio in N15, or delivered by a courier. We are happy to help get a cost and arrange a courier. Contact us to discuss delivery.
