A fabulous original paper collage artwork entitled Tomorrow by J. Yates. Part of the rich Pop Art collage tradition which, in the 1960s, used images of popular culture as never before. It depicts two people in an abstract portrait with reference to the Everyman Cinema, Hampstead, and the movie ‘Things to Come’. The movie is a 1936 black and white science fiction film written by H.G Wells and directed by William Cameron Menzies. The lovely muted tones of the colours sit beautifully on the original linen frame, and if you look closely there is so much detail. It is signed on the front and the back. As it is a paper art work it has gained some wear and tear since 1965, this includes a few pieces of lost paper. This is not detrimental to the look of the work and it is strung and ready to hang.
